The recent Redwater Supreme court ruling has reinforced the need for cradle to grave asset management and has created an enhanced emphasis on proactively managing ARO.  At the same time, the AER’s scorecard is changing with the anticipated rollout of a new Liability Management Program later this year.  Our industry is on life support and outside of growth assets, legacy assets offer minimal, if any, return for owner and investors going forward.  This changing landscape requires a collaborative approach between all facets of the industry and paradigm shift in the way we think and do business.  This talk will discuss the impact of the Redwater ruling and introduce some new ways of thinking to deal with end of life assets so that there can be a positive impact to all players with a vested interest in our industry; such as E&P producers, regulators, service companies and the citizens of Alberta.
