The resurgence of gas lift as a viable method of artificial lift in Canada has taken hold. Historically known as being dependable for wells producing wide ranges of production, GLR’s, sand content and well deviations, gas lift has once again proven itself over the past decade. Current estimates are 75% of Montney and Duvernay produced wells requiring lift have chosen gas lift. Viking and Cardium production have also benefited from gas lift being reviewed as cost effective method from a CAPEX and OPEX perspective. The progression from continuous flow gas lift to PAGL (plunger assisted gas lift) and GAPL (gas assisted plunger lift) has allowed many operators to extend out this method of lift on the wells natural decline curve.
Dean Gordon has worked in the production and artificial lift facet for the last 35 years. Predominately in gas lift evaluation, design, implementation, optimizing / troubleshooting, with a decade involvement in plunger lift and hydraulic lift businesses as well. He also has extensive working experience with NODAL Analysis combined with field involvement. His experience also includes Regional Business Manager for Production & Testing Services, Operations Manager for Western Canada Artificial Lift Systems, Product Line Manager for RRP while working closely with completions and software / automation groups. Dean is a strong team leader and has been successful and efficient in managing all aspects of prior businesses including project management, market analysis, QHSSE, OEPS, inventory management and career development. Mr. Gordons current role is North American Product Line Manager for Gas Lift, Hydraulic Lift and Capillary Lift.
