SPE Calgary Section Scholarship
SPE Calgary Section has partnered with the SPE Canadian Educational Foundation to provide one annual scholarship of $5,000 CAD. This scholarship is awarded to a deserving student enrolled in a Canadian educational institution in an energy-related program who has shown outstanding commitment to the SPE community through volunteering at SPE events, committee participation, or involvement in their student chapter.

Oliver DesCoteaux Scholarship
Oliver DesCoteaux was a young professional who graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree from the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary in 2014. Oliver was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer in 2015, and succumbed to the disease on March 15, 2016. In honour of Oliver, the Oliver DesCoteaux Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to a student who best demonstrates the characteristics Oliver was known for, teamwork.
The scholarship recipient will be an engineering student (any program) at the University of Calgary who enhances the “teamwork or team learning” aspect of engineering education and has shown through their actions a desire to selflessly serve and support their peers. You can nominate your peer by submitting the a nomination form including a short essay (maximum 350 words) outlining why this person is deserving of the award. One scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $4,000. Applications open in January 2022.
